Charles Rotenberg is Counsel to Doris Law. He brings his 30 years of expertise in the complex and ever-changing specialty of tax planning to the firm.
Our comprehensive tax consulting practice includes both personal and corporate income tax planning, as well as cross-border and inter-generational tax strategies. We regularly advise clients regarding the use of appropriate business structures in the form of partnerships, corporations, personal trusts, and holding companies. Tight integration of our wills and estates practice allows us to attend to a client's total needs by ensuring that that both estate and corporate strategies work harmoniously to achieve the desired results.
We are very active in the tax appeal process. We represent clients in negotiations with the audit sections of Canada Revenue Agency and, where necessary, we continue the representation process into the Appeals section, the Tax Court of Canada and Federal Court of Appeal.
In appropriate cases, we represent taxpayers wishing to put their affairs in order by making a voluntary disclosure (usually on a no-names basis to start) in order to avoid penalties and prosecution for past misdeeds.
